Quiet After the Storm

Boy, is it quiet around here!  Children 1-5 are off at school today, and #6 is enjoying a nap in a quiet house.  I just might follow her lead for a little while!

What a week we've had!  I felt like we were slammed back into real life after our long vacation. All good - just not sure how ready I felt for it to hit me full force!

Dentist checkups for 5 kids, doctor appointments, meet the teacher nights, learning to use a locker for the first time, school supply shopping (holy moly, was that an adventure!), football practice, choir and orchestra rehearsals, and lots of cleaning and unpacking and yard work (since I kind of forgot to set up some yard service for the month we were gone.  Oops.) Not to mention trying to soak up some last time with my kiddos before they head back into the world of school, sports, and busy schedules.

Friday night I got to go watch my oldest boy play a little football - and I mean a little.  There was a lightning issue, so they cleared the field and we only got to see him run a few plays, but he looked good and had a great run.  I can't tell you how much I love football season!

And then we had a little party Saturday night - about 150ish friends from church came over for ice cream, zip-lining, basketball, and lots of chatting.  So, so fun!  It was really nice to see so many of our friends after being gone for so long, and we've met some really awesome new ones that have moved in recently as well.  I didn't realize how much I had missed everyone!  Keeping up on Facebook is nice, but nothing beats face-to-face interaction.

And so it begins!  Ready or not, the pace has picked up around here - at least before 8am and after 3pm.  Right now,  I'm enjoying a quiet moment.
