Joseph turned 8 last week, which is a very special birthday in our Church. At 8, we believe that children are capable of understanding right from wrong, and are therefore accountable for their own choices. Therefore, children are baptized beginning at age 8. Joseph has been looking forward to this for a long time, and it turned out to be a very special day.
We celebrated with his cousins and extended family on his actual birthday.
On the Sunday following his birthday, we had his baptism. Greg's parents' church is currently undergoing renovations, therefore, it was going to be tricky to find a baptismal font that was available. We really wanted to have the baptism out here so that the family could attend, and weren't sure if all of the logistics were going to work out. That's when a kind neighbor came to the rescue and offered her swimming pool for the baptism. It was so beautiful!
It was a perfect, quiet Sunday morning, and the setting was gorgeous. Surrounded by family, Joseph was baptized, and it was a moment I will never forget. Right as Joseph and Greg stepped into the water, a ray of sunshine broke through the shade and shone on them as the baptism was performed. So beautiful and so touching. I sure love this sweet boy and am so proud of the good decisions he is making!
