Well - we've had an eventful morning so far! It all started about 1am when Joseph took a few wrong turns on the way to the bathroom and went out the back door, setting off the ear-splitting burglar alarm. Poor Ashley had fallen asleep on the couch studying for her pre-calculus test, and was jolted awake by the sound of the back door and the alarm. Thinking someone was in the house, she was terrified and was trying to decide whether to run or hide when Greg came out to check the situation out. He found Ashley under a blanket on the couch, and a very disoriented Joseph standing at the back door trying to figure out what in the world was going on.
We had a good laugh and then all tried, somewhat in vain, to get some sleep after that huge shot of adrenaline!
At about 8am, most of the kids were off to school, and I was helping Isaac get out the door to catch the bus. His sock had a huge hole near the top and he couldn't find another pair. I grabbed it to quickly sew it up, instructing him to grab his backpack and throw his other shoe on. When I gave it back, he said, "Thanks, Mom! Last time I wore these, I had to color my leg with a Sharpie so no one could tell I had a hole in my sock!" Who thinks of that?! Love that kid!
While we're on the subject of fun, just wanted to share our favorite new tradition. We started this last fall, and since it is birthday season for my boys right now, we're getting to enjoy this one frequently these days!
